The teachings of Bön are as vital now as they were 18,000 years ago when the enlightened one, Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche, brought them to the land of Zhang Zhung in Central Asia and then to Tibet. We receive these precious teachings of compassion, wisdom, and healing known as Yungdrung Bön, the everlasting Bön, through an unbroken line of teachers. The fruit of the path is enlightenment not only for oneself, but for all sentient beings.
Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche teaches us that the essence of Bön is the reality of existence and self-nature. By removing the obscurations of our ordinary nature we find our mind as clear as a mirror and we see our own true face. Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Yeru Bön Center.
We at Yeru Bön Center are privileged to receive the teachings and blessings of Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche, Geshe Denma Gyaltsen, and other lamas. Our teachers present us with many opportunities for residential retreats, weekend teachings, and informal weekday practice of sutra, tantra, and Dzogchen.
We also benefit from our contact with the throneholder of Bön, His Holiness Abbot Lungtok Tenpa’i Nyima Rinpoche. His Holiness and His Eminence Yongzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche accomplished the feat of establishing Menri Monastery in 1969 in Dolanji, India, as Bön’s global mother monastery
Yeru Bön Center, with the support of His Holiness and His Eminence, opened auspiciously on February 17, 2002, the 646th birthday anniversary of the great Bön master, Nyammed Sherab Gyaltsen. Our Center is strongly linked to the tradition of Bön in Tibet and its extension to the Western world. May the blessings of Bön spread to all beings!
